About

Erlend A. T. Hermansen is a Senior Researcher with a background in sociology and Science and Technology Studies (STS).

His research revolves around how (scientific) knowledge is produced and used by different actors for different purposes across different contexts. 

Empirically, Hermansen's research particularly focuses on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and various aspects climate science and policy in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the EU and Norway. 

Hermansen holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies (STS) from TIK Center for Technology, Innovation and Culture at the University of Oslo. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Gothenburg.

We work on understanding how international and national politics and policies affect each other, as well as the effect of climate policy instruments, focusing in particular on the global climate negotiations, climate policy in the EU, USA, China and Norway.
