MAGICA - MAximising the synergy of European research Governance and Innovation for Climate Action

Project details
The EU-funded MAGICA project’s ambition is to guide future climate research. This is done through a scientifically rigorous, democratic and open iterative process involving the strategic, scientific and social components of climate change research and innovation. MAGICA works to maximise the synergies between infrastructure investments and initiatives of climate change research and innovation (R&I) across the European Research Area (ERA) by building upon and further implementing the Mission of JPI Climate in support of the international and European climate agenda.
MAGICA’s objective is to accelerate the development, provision, and exchange of knowledge from research and innovation to inform and support policy-making and climate actions through a better coordination of on-going and future initiatives and a more efficient use of resources.
MAGICA hosts an arena of dialogue to enhance the debate within the scientific community on climate research and organization (R&I) priorities that is synthesized in a Joint Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) on climate change for ERA 2025-2034. In addition, MAGICA organizes a series of flagship events, such as the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA), the Carbon Neutrality Forum, and the Knowledge Hub Conference on Sea Level Rise and the Equinox Summit as well as other events. The events include decision makers and practitioners to exchange with the scientific community on urgent knowledge needs for climate action.
In MAGICA, CICERO is leading the work on innovating climate knowledge exchange and transfer to enable societal transformation and contributing to building the actionable Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for Climate Sciences with focus on scientific underpinnings of societal transformation for climate action.
MAGICA is a 4-year Coordination and Support Action project funded under the Horizon Europe programme and coordinated by Giulia Galluccio, CMCC the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change in Italy.
